About National Cleft & Craniofacial Awareness-Prevention Month
"National Cleft & Craniofacial Awareness & Prevention Month occurs each July and is sponsored by AmeriFace and cleftAdvocate.
Cleft and craniofacial conditions affect thousands of infants, children, teens and adults in the United States each year.� Some are born with congenital anomalies like cleft lip and palate, others with more complex, life-threatening craniofacial conditions.� Some are burned; others are injured in accidents and animal attacks, or diagnosed with various oral/head/neck and skin diseases.�
Picture: Angieleca Hayahay of the Philippines was born with a cleft lip. When she was denied a job as a nurse because of her cleft lip, she had surgery. Today she works as a nurse helping others overcome Cleft & Craniofacial disfigurement.
