About Black Hole Awareness Month
National Black Hole Awareness Month is an unofficial holiday with no sponsor. Black holes are a theory. In January 2013 astronomers released the first pictures of what they think a black hole will look like - but admit they don't yet have to technology to check their theory.
Black holes are invisible, as not even light can escape their gravitational pull.
