About National Weatherman's Day
John Jeffries was born on February 5, 1744. He is considered Americas first Weatherman. It was Jeffries who first began logging daily weather occurrences in Boston and providing reports to the population. In 1784 he made the first weather analysis using a balloon.
National Weathermans Day is observed each February 5 as a reminder of Jeffries contributions and in recognition of the work done by todays meteorologists in monitoring climate forecasts, providing warnings of major weather issues and helping to keep people safe the world over.
